China PR have sent a strong warning to Nigeria’s Falconets after recording a convincing 5-0 victory over New Caledonia at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Asian side produced a dominant second-half display, with Huang Jiaxin scoring a devastating 12-minute hat-trick to complete a comprehensive victory.
New Caledonia frustrated China for much of the opening half, with goalkeeper Elizabeth Aben producing an inspired performance to keep the debutants on level terms.
China missed several opportunities before finally breaking the deadlock just 23 seconds into the second half.
Xiao Yafei opened the scoring from close range after converting a dangerous cross from substitute Chen Ruilin, who proved instrumental in China’s attacking surge.
Ruilin went on to provide four assists for China’s five goals, playing a key role in the Asian side’s second-half dominance.
China hit the woodwork twice before eventually turning the pressure into goals.
Huang then took centre stage, producing a clinical finishing display to score three times in a remarkable 12-minute spell.
Zhou Xinyi also found the net as China completed a 5-0 victory.
The result means China head into their upcoming meeting with the Nigeria Falconets full of confidence, having demonstrated their attacking quality and second-half intensity.
Nigeria, meanwhile, will be looking to respond after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Spain in their opening Group match.
The Falconets will face China on Wednesday, with the encounter now taking on added importance for Nigeria as they seek to get their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign back on track.
