FC AshantiGold 04 head coach Karim Zito has dismissed suggestions that he is seeking revenge against Asante Kotoko ahead of their upcoming encounter, insisting that his focus remains firmly on securing victory for his current club.
The experienced Ghanaian coach, who was previously with Kotoko, stressed that the fixture carries no personal significance for him, describing it as another competitive match in which both teams will be determined to collect the maximum points.
“I’m not seeking revenge against Kotoko. It’s just a game, and both teams want to win. We’ll approach it like any other match because the points at stake are the same,” Zito said.
The AshantiGold 04 manager maintained that he holds no personal grievances against the Porcupine Warriors, emphasising that his professional responsibility is to prepare his team and give his best in pursuit of victory.
“I have no personal issues with Kotoko. My responsibility is to give my best and help my team win,” he added.
Zito also expressed satisfaction with his current role at AshantiGold 04, dismissing any suggestion that his focus is distracted by his past connections with the Kumasi-based club.
“I’m very happy at AshantiGold 04 and enjoying my life here,” he stated.
His comments come ahead of a fixture that is expected to attract considerable attention, given his previous association with Kotoko and the competitive significance of the encounter.
While the prospect of facing his former club could provide an additional storyline, Zito has made it clear that his priority is AshantiGold 04 and the task of delivering a positive result.
For the AshantiGold 04 coach, the objective is straightforward: prepare his players, compete with determination and fight for the available points, without allowing personal narratives to overshadow the match itself.
