Idrissa Gueye Joins Saudi Pro League Newcomers Diriyah

Senegal international Idrissa Gueye has completed a move to newly promoted Saudi Pro League club Diriyah as a free agent following his departure from Everton.

Diriyah confirmed the signing on Sunday, describing the experienced midfielder as an important addition to the squad.

“Idrissa is one of ours. His experience is an asset,” the club posted on X.

Reports from local media indicate that Gueye has agreed to a one-year contract with an option to extend his stay for another season.

The 36-year-old midfielder ended his second spell with Everton in July after spending a combined seven seasons with the Premier League club.

Between his two spells at Goodison Park, Gueye featured for French giants Paris Saint-Germain for three years.

The former Lille midfielder has earned more than 130 international caps for Senegal and was part of the team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.

Gueye is the latest high-profile addition to Diriyah’s squad, following the arrivals of Democratic Republic of Congo captain Chancel Mbemba and Bosnia and Herzegovina goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj.
