Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has disclosed key details regarding the Black Stars’ preparations for their upcoming assignment, confirming both the players’ appearance fees and the likely area where the squad will be trimmed.
Speaking on the composition of the national team, Adams revealed that each player selected for the tournament will receive an appearance fee of $100,000, underlining the financial commitment being made towards the team’s participation.
“The appearance fee for the Black Stars players has been pegged at $100,000 per player,” Adams stated.
The minister also addressed the expected reduction of the squad from 28 players to the final 26-man roster. According to him, the cuts are most likely to affect the goalkeeping department, where the team currently has more options than required.
“The cut of the Black Stars squad from 28 to 26 is likely to come from the goalkeeping unit. They will surely take a cut,” he said.
His comments provide the clearest indication yet of the direction the technical team could take as they finalize their squad list. While competition for places remains fierce across all departments, the goalkeeping position appears set to bear the brunt of the final selection process.
The announcement is expected to intensify the battle among the goalkeepers currently in camp, with only a limited number of spots available in the final squad. As the countdown continues, players and supporters alike await confirmation of the 26 men who will carry Ghana’s hopes on the international stage.
