Ghana Premier League outfit Karela United FC has been hit with an immediate registration ban by world football governing body FIFA following their failure to fulfill outstanding financial obligations to Gambian player Sana Camara.
The official correspondence, issued on 17 August 2026 by FIFA Head of Disciplinary Américo Espallargas, confirms that Karela United failed to comply with a previous ruling (ref. no. FPSD-23160).
The restriction prohibits the club from signing and registering new players both internationally and nationally.
The ban remains in effect until the outstanding debt to Sana Camara is cleared in full, up to a maximum penalty of three consecutive transfer windows.
FIFA explicitly instructed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to enforce the national-level transfer sanction immediately.
The timing of the disciplinary decision presents a severe administrative hurdle for Karela United. With the 2026–27 Ghana Premier League season fast approaching, the transfer embargo severely restricts the club’s squad-building capabilities unless they swiftly settle their debt with Camara’s representatives.
