Laryea Kingston Urges Carlos Queiroz to Adapt Style to Suit Ghana’s Strengths

Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has urged Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz to adopt a more attack-minded approach that better reflects the qualities of Ghanaian players.

Speaking on the team’s tactical direction, Kingston stressed that Ghana’s football identity has traditionally been built around players who are comfortable in possession and capable of expressing themselves creatively on the ball.

“When appointing a coach for Ghana, we must consider the type of players we have. Ghanaian players like to express themselves with the ball, so Carlos should adapt his approach,” Kingston said.

The former Black Stars winger questioned the team’s defensive approach at the FIFA World Cup, warning that relying on deep defending is unlikely to deliver long-term success.

“What we saw at the World Cup won’t help us going forward if we continue to defend deep all the time because football has changed,” he added.

Kingston’s comments come as discussions continue over the future direction of the Black Stars following Ghana’s World Cup campaign. His remarks add to growing calls for Queiroz to implement a style of play that maximises the technical ability and attacking instincts of Ghana’s players as the team prepares for its next competitive assignments.
