Mendy struck inside the opening minute, finishing sharply to stun the visitors before doubling the lead in the 8th minute with another composed effort. The early brace handed Cagliari a commanding advantage against an Atalanta side that dominated possession but struggled to cope with the hosts’ clinical edge.
