Ghanaian forward Prince Kwabena Adu was on target as FC Viktoria Plzeň secured a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over Norwegian side Lillestrøm SK in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night.
The 23-year-old striker made an immediate impact, finding the back of the net in the 10th minute to hand the Czech outfit an early advantage.
Adu made a well-timed run to connect with a precise pass from midfielder Patrik Hrošovský before calmly slotting the ball home.
Lillestrøm dominated possession with 65 per cent of the ball but struggled to break down Plzeň’s organised defensive setup. The visitors remained disciplined throughout the encounter, protecting their slender advantage to secure a valuable clean sheet and all three points.
Adu, who led the attack for 70 minutes, provided a constant threat to the Norwegian defence before making way as Plzeň managed the closing stages of the contest.
The goal represents an important return to the scoresheet for the Ghanaian forward, who will be hoping to build on his performance as Viktoria Plzeň continue their European campaign.
