Queiroz Proposes Backroom Overhaul as GFA Weigh Technical Team Changes

A potential restructuring of Ghana’s national team technical setup is underway following revelations that Carlos Queiroz has proposed the addition of new backroom staff to strengthen his operations.

According to Frederick Acheampong, a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, discussions are ongoing regarding the composition of the technical team, with no definitive decisions reached so far.

“Carlos Queiroz has proposed bringing in additional backroom staff to support his work,” Acheampong disclosed. “No final decision has been made on the current technical team as yet.”

The development signals a possible shake-up behind the scenes, as the roles assigned to incoming personnel are expected to influence the future of existing staff members. Acheampong emphasized that the structure and responsibilities of the proposed additions will be key in determining who stays and who departs.

“The roles of the additions will determine which of the current technical team members will remain or otherwise,” he added.

The move reflects a broader trend in modern football, where national teams increasingly rely on specialized technical units—including analysts, fitness coaches, and tactical advisors—to gain a competitive edge.

For Ghana, any restructuring could have significant implications as the Black Stars aim to rebuild consistency and performance on the international stage.

The GFA is expected to continue consultations before announcing a final decision on the technical team’s composition.
