Cameroon football legend Roger Milla has thrown his support behind Ousmane Dembélé in the race for the Ballon d’Or, describing the French winger as his favourite to claim football’s most prestigious individual award.
Speaking on the current state of world football, Milla praised Dembélé’s performances and believes the France international has done enough to emerge as the leading contender for the coveted honour.
“I think Ousmane Dembélé is the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or,” Milla said.
The 73-year-old also expressed confidence in France’s chances at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, naming Les Bleus among the strongest contenders for the title.
“And France are one of the favourites to win the World Cup,” Milla added.
Milla’s endorsement comes as France continue their pursuit of another global crown, while Dembélé’s impressive form at club and international level has strengthened his credentials in the Ballon d’Or conversation. His comments are likely to add further weight to the growing belief that the French forward is among the standout candidates for football’s biggest individual prize.
