Togo edge Guinea at halftime after strong first half

It’s halftime at the Moulay Hassan Stadium, where Togo hold a deserved 1-0 lead over Guinea in this opening match of the international break.

After a difficult start marked by early pressure from the Syli National, the Sparrowhawks gradually found their rhythm and took control of proceedings.

Growing more aggressive after the first quarter-hour, Patrice Neveu’s men began to trouble the Guinean defense, highlighted by a dangerous effort from debutant Charles Abi in the 23rd minute.

Togo’s dominance was rewarded just three minutes later. In the 26th minute, Kevin Denkey won a penalty after being brought down in the box before calmly converting from the spot to give his side the lead.

The goal capped a strong spell from the Éperviers, who looked increasingly confident going forward.

Guinea, led by Serhou Guirassy, attempted to respond before the break but were kept at bay by a well-organized Togolese defense.

The midfield duo of Roger Aholou and Steven Nador provided solidity and balance, ensuring Togo went into halftime with a valuable advantage.
