Full-time in Casablanca! Burkina Faso claimed a historic first-ever victory at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals, thanks to goals from Naomie Adele and Balkissa Sawadogo.
Burkina Faso opened the scoring in this match. Following a long pass behind the Tanzanian defense, Adele Naomie Kabre scored the opening goal for Burkina Faso (43rd minute, 1-0).
After halftime, Tanzania was reduced to 10 players following Hasnath Ubamba’s ejection for a foul on the Burkinabe goalkeeper. Despite being a player down, Tanzania managed to equalize.
Aisha Mnunka capitalized on a free kick that bounced off the crossbar to level the score (62nd minute, 1-1).
After sustained pressure, Burkina Faso took the lead. Following a fine team play, Balkissa Sawadogo scored the 2-1 goal for the Etalons Dames.
