World Cup 2026 : Senegal finalizes its squad and parts ways with two players

Senegal has finalized its squad for the World Cup 2026 after coach Pape Thiaw reduced his preliminary 28-man group to 26 players. Following the friendly match against the United States, the Senegalese manager excluded Ilay Camara and Moustapha Mbow from the final roster. Thiaw used the preparation camp in the United States to assess his players closely and make his final decisions before submitting the squad to FIFA.

Pape Thiaw retained an experienced core led by Sadio Mané, Kalidou Koulibaly, Édouard Mendy, and Idrissa Gana Gueye. He also rewarded young midfielder Bara Sapoko Ndiaye with a place in the final squad after the Bayern Munich prospect impressed during the preparation period.

In attack, Thiaw will count on Nicolas Jackson, Ismaila Sarr, Iliman Ndiaye, Assane Diao, Ibrahim Mbaye, and Bamba Dieng to lead Senegal’s challenge against France, Norway, and Iraq.
