Organizers of the World Cup 2026 have confirmed a historic halftime show for the final, with global stars such as Shakira, Madonna and K-pop sensation BTS expected to perform.
For the first time in World Cup history, fans will enjoy a major musical show during the break of the final, following a format similar to the famous Super Bowl halftime performances. Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, also revealed details about the artists involved during a recent appearance alongside the Muppets.
Shakira already shares a strong connection with the World Cup after performing the iconic “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” during the 2010 tournament in South Africa. The Colombian superstar also performed at the closing ceremonies of the 2006 and 2014 editions and now returns once again as one of the central figures of this year’s event.
The World Cup 2026 final will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey near New York City, and organizers could extend the halftime break to allow enough time for the stage setup and performances.
