Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids praised his team’s performance in their first league game of the season.
The Wekundu wa Msimbazi began their Premier League campaign in style, securing a commanding 3-0 victory over Tabora United on Sunday at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
Cameroonian defender Che Malone Fondoh gave Simba the lead with a well-placed header. Substitutes Valentino Kusengama Mashaka and Awesu Ali then sealed the win in the second half, making it a comfortable outing for the Msimbazi Reds.
“First of all, I want to thank the fans. They came out in great numbers and supported us throughout. The players stuck to the plan, and we managed to prevent any shots against us today, which is really positive.
“While we aim to score more goals, I’m satisfied with our control,” Davids said.as quoted by the Guardian.
He added: “This is just the beginning of the project. There’s a lot of work ahead. We need to finish games earlier, but I’m pleased with our dominance and where we are at this stage. Losing Joshua Mutale is disappointing, but we’ve seen progress.
“The players are embracing new concepts, especially in how we press without the ball. It’s a step-by-step process, and I’m satisfied.”
Simba will return to action on Saturday when they face Fountain Gate in their second match of the Premier League season.
