Ghana TJ Tahid Expresses Pride After Earning Call-Up to Ghana U-20 Squad

Young midfielder TJ Tahid has shared his pride and excitement after being named in the final squad for the Ghana U-20 team ahead of the upcoming AFCON U-20 tournament. The Canada-born player, whose roots trace back to Ghana, revealed the emotional moment he learned of his call-up.

“They called my dad. He’s from Ghana, so they called him directly and he told me while I was getting ready to come to training that I gotta start learning the national anthem,” Tahid said. “It was a very proud moment for the two of us for sure.”

Tahid, who has already represented Canada at youth level and featured at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, sees this opportunity with Ghana as a chance to grow and compete at a new level.

“There’s a lot of excitement, but at the same time, I know I have to work. I have to earn my spot on the team of course. It’s definitely different to being at the club,” he said. “I think the biggest thing for me is the preparation—knowing I had that experience from the World Cup and taking that into the AFCON.”

The inclusion of TJ Tahid adds depth and international experience to the Black Satellites squad as they prepare to make an impact at the continental level.
