TP Mazembe have taken a commanding lead against Medeama SC, going into the break with a 2-0 advantage in the second leg of their continental tie.
The hosts made a blistering start, taking the lead as early as the 3rd minute when Patrick Mwaungulu fired a low effort beyond the Medeama defence and goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
Mazembe doubled their advantage in the 19th minute, with Josué Kazema finding the back of the net to put the home side firmly in control.
Mazembe were handed another opportunity to extend the lead in the 28th minute when the referee awarded a penalty after Bingi went down following contact with goalkeeper Kyei.
However, Kyei came up big for Medeama, diving the right way to save Nyembo’s 29th-minute penalty and prevent Mazembe from extending their lead.
Despite the missed spot-kick, TP Mazembe remain comfortably ahead at the interval.
