Tanzanian giants Simba SC produced a commanding performance on Sunday, crushing Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers 6-1 in the second leg of their CAF Champions League first preliminary-round tie.
The emphatic victory at Uhuru Stadium saw Simba complete a 7-1 aggregate triumph, underlining their superiority across the two legs.
Simba had entered the return fixture with a slender 1-0 advantage after winning the first leg in Malawi. However, they left no room for doubt in Dar es Salaam, scoring six times to turn the tie into a one-sided affair.
The result sends Simba into the second preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League, keeping their hopes of reaching the group stage firmly alive. CAF had earlier confirmed that the second preliminary-round ties will be played in October.
Simba’s next opponents
Simba will face the winner of the 15 de Agosto vs Fomboni FC tie in the second preliminary round.
The CAF draw placed the winner of Simba’s first-round pairing against the winner of the Equatorial Guinean and Comorian clubs.
The second preliminary round is particularly important because the winners of the 16 ties will advance to the CAF Champions League group stage.
The first legs are scheduled for October 16-18, with the return legs taking place between October 23 and 25.
Simba’s 6-1 victory represents a major statement from the Tanzanian giants as they continue their pursuit of continental glory.
