The Euromatch NPFL Matchday 5 delivered another round of entertaining fixtures, with 27 goals recorded across the nine matches played.
The biggest result came in Aba, where Enyimba suffered a 3-2 defeat to Sporting Lagos, while Rangers, Shooting Stars, Kwara United, Barau and Bendel Insurance also picked up victories.
The Matchday 5 results produced a mixture of narrow wins, high-scoring encounters and hard-fought draws as teams continued their campaigns in the 2026/27 NPFL season.
Enyimba 2-3 Sporting Lagos
The standout fixture of Matchday 5 saw Enyimba fall 3-2 to Sporting Lagos in a five-goal contest.
Enyimba appeared to have taken control when Stanley Dimgba put the home side ahead in the 44th minute.
Sporting Lagos, however, responded strongly after the interval. Abdullahi restored parity in the 51st minute before Haruna Hadi completed the turnaround eight minutes later.
Enyimba were handed another setback in the 69th minute when Daniel Aboh extended Sporting Lagos’ advantage.
Tobi Iyanda converted a 54th-minute penalty for Enyimba, but the hosts could not find another goal to rescue a point.
The defeat leaves Enyimba with plenty to reflect on as the campaign progresses, while Sporting Lagos secured an important away victory.
Rangers 1-0 Ranchers
Rangers secured a narrow victory, defeating Ranchers 1-0.
After a goalless opening 79 minutes, Chidozie Iwundu broke the deadlock in the 80th minute to give Rangers all three points.
It was a disciplined performance from Rangers, who held on to their late advantage until the final whistle.
Shooting Stars 2-0 Katsina United
Shooting Stars continued their positive run with a 2-0 victory over Katsina United.
Olanrewaju Ridwan opened the scoring in the 20th minute before Qamar Adegoke added the second goal in the 72nd minute.
The result gave Shooting Stars a deserved three points after a controlled performance across the 90 minutes.
Niger Tornadoes 0-0 Wolves
Niger Tornadoes and Wolves played out one of the day’s goalless draws.
Neither side could find the breakthrough as both teams settled for a point after a 0-0 finish.
The result reflected a tightly contested encounter in which the two attacks failed to convert their opportunities.
Doma United 2-2 Plateau United
Doma United and Plateau United shared four goals in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Michael Adegbite was the standout player for Doma United, scoring twice in the 35th and 47th minutes.
Plateau United fought back through Gideon Monday, who pulled one back in the 58th minute.
Paul Samson then completed the comeback in the 77th minute to earn Plateau United a valuable away point.
Inter Lagos 1-1 Kano Pillars
Inter Lagos and Kano Pillars also ended their encounter level at 1-1.
Kano Pillars took the lead through Ubong Friday in the 33rd minute.
Inter Lagos responded in the second half, with Bashir Abdulkarim finding the equaliser in the 75th minute.
Neither side could produce a winner in the closing stages.
Kwara United 2-1 Nasarawa United
Kwara United secured a 2-1 home victory over Nasarawa United.
Sanni Muhammed gave Kwara United an early advantage with his 12th-minute goal.
Nasarawa United levelled through Jofrank Istifanus in the 29th minute, setting up a competitive second half.
Kwara United eventually regained the lead when Abdulsalam Abdulsalam scored in the 65th minute to seal all three points.
Barau 2-0 Abia Warriors
Barau recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory over Abia Warriors.
Joseph Atule broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, giving Barau a first-half advantage.
Ibrahim Ayoola doubled the lead in the 61st minute as Barau completed a convincing victory.
Abia Warriors were unable to find a response as Barau protected their two-goal advantage to the final whistle.
Bendel Insurance 2-1 Ikorodu City
Bendel Insurance came from behind to defeat Ikorodu City 2-1.
Insurance took the lead through Chinedu Nwosu, who converted a penalty in the 49th minute.
Ikorodu City levelled through Aderemi Adeoye in the 79th minute, setting up a tense finish.
Bendel Insurance, however, found the decisive goal five minutes later when Alex Oweilayefa struck in the 84th minute to secure victory.
Matchday 5 will wrap on Thursday with Rivers United at home against Kun khalifat.
