Tanzanian Premier League champions Young Africans (Yanga SC) are back at the top of the Premier League table after silencing Namungo ‘Southern Killers’ 3-1 at Majaliwa Stadium in Ruangwa, Lindi on Friday.
The victory saw the title holders bagging 46 points in 17 games. It was their 15th win of the campaign making them a side with most wins and goals so far in the league.
After a barren draw in the first half, goal gates opened in the last segment with Mudathir Yahya driving the gust side upfront in the 53rd minute.
Clement Mzize doubled the lead three minutes later before Stephanie Aziz Ki tripling the scoreboard in the 62nd minute. However, an own goal courtesy of center-back Ibrahim Bacca (70) gifted Mwinyi Zahera’s charges a consolation goal.
The top five of the log has Yanga on top with 46 points from 17 games, Azam second with 44 points after 20 matches. Yanga rivals Simba SC are third with 36 points from 16 encounters while Coastal Union are fourth with 27 points after 19 clashes similar to Tanzania Prisons with 27 points in 19 fixtures.
