Rwanda Shabani the hero as AS Kigali edge out Musanze FC

Veteran striker Hussein ‘Tshabalala’ Shabani scored the only goal of the game as AS Kigali continued their impressive form with a 1-0 victory over Musanze FC at Kigali Pele Stadium on Friday.

The game was keenly contested from the very beginning with end-to–end action as both clubs made vital incursions in each other’s vital areas. Shabani broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute as he fired past goalkeeper Gad Muhawenayo to give the Citizens the lead.

The Burundi international has been in fine form since he rejoined the club from Libyan side Al Ta’awon in January. Shabani and his striking partner Felix Kone started finding spaces at the back of Musanze back four but they missed a host of chances as the first half came to an end with a 1-0 lead in favor of the City of Kigali-powered side.

The victory saw AS Kigali eapfrog struggling Police FC to climb to fifth position with 34 points whereas Musanze remain third with 44 points.

Elsewhere, at Ubworoherane Stadium in Rubavu, Mukura Victory Sports’ unpredictable nature continued as they were hammered 3-1 by Etincelles FC.Gideon Bendeka netted a brace in the 21st and 24th minute before Sadjat Niyonkuru added the third for the home side in the 56th minute.

Mukura’s consolation was scored by Emmanuel Nsabimana in the 72nd minute.Also at Ngoma Stadium, Étoile de l’Est continued their quest for survival as they beat Kiyovu Sports 1-0 while Amagaju also settled for a 1-1 draw with Bugesera FC at Huye.
