Premier League Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta wins Premier League Manager of the Month

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was named the Premier League Manager of the Month for February on Friday.

The Spaniard scooped the award after guiding the Gunners to four wins from four and scoring 18 goals in the process, edging out Pep Guardiola and Erik ten Hag to scoop the silverware, and celebrated collecting the prize with his coaching staff – Inaki Cana, Carlos Cuesta, Albert Stuivenberg, Nicolas Jover and Miguel Molina.

Mikel was the only boss in the division to record a 100 per cent record in February, which began with the joyous 3-1 win against table-topping Liverpool that pulled Arsenal back into title contention, and the momentum from that saw them thrash West Ham United 6-0.

Burnley were then blitzed 5-0 away from home before they rounded off the month with a 4-1 success against Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium to move within touching distance of Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the league.

It was the first award for Arteta this season having been nominated five times, and added to his growing collection of divisional monthly accolades. He now has been named Manager of the Month on seven occasions since taking charge of Arsenal in December 2019, meaning only seven managers in the competition’s history have won more.
