Ghana and Norway have announced their starting lineups for their Group C opener at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026, setting the stage for an intriguing tactical contest at the Women’s Football Complex.
Both teams will be eager to begin their tournament campaigns with a victory in a challenging group that also features Brazil and Canada, making a positive result in their opening fixture particularly important.
Ghana’s Black Maidens have opted for an attacking 4-2-3-1 formation, while Norway will line up in a 4-3-3 system designed to establish midfield control and provide attacking options across the pitch.
Ghana will rely on B. Aklie in goal, protected by a defensive quartet of J. Gyekyewaa, S. Essenam, H. Adam and R. Osman.
Captain Saidat Wahab will lead the midfield alongside L. Musah in a double pivot tasked with protecting the defence, distributing possession and initiating attacking transitions.
Further forward, C. Ashiaku, J. Appiah and G. Ameaa will provide creative support to P. Mensah, who leads the Ghanaian attack. The formation offers the Black Maidens the opportunity to exploit the wide areas while maintaining a central attacking threat.
Norway, meanwhile, have selected Erla Braathen as their goalkeeper, with captain Isa Lund partnering S. Saga in central defence. L. Mørch and V. Vinje complete the defensive line as the European side prepare to face Ghana’s attacking threat.
In midfield, S. Solemda, S. Lapore and S. Mendelin will form a three-player unit expected to dictate possession, support the defence and drive the team forward.
Norway’s attacking hopes will rest on Maia Melga…, H. Nesse and J. Fedeler, who will lead the frontline in a formation that offers width and multiple routes towards goal.
The contrasting tactical approaches promise an engaging battle, with Ghana’s double-pivot system set to face a Norwegian midfield trio in what could prove a decisive area of the contest.
For the Black Maidens, the challenge will be to combine their attacking intent with defensive discipline, while Norway will look to use their numerical advantage in midfield to control the tempo.
With both sides targeting a winning start, the Group C encounter in Rabat presents an early opportunity to lay down a marker in their quest to progress at the global tournament.
