Ghanaian midfielder William Bediako has completed a move to Spanish giants Atlético Madrid, joining the club’s Under-19 team after leaving Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder is expected to link up with his new teammates immediately as he begins the next chapter of his career in Spanish football.
Bediako, who has also featured for Spanish lower-tier side Trival Valderas Alcorcón, will look to establish himself within Atlético Madrid’s youth setup and continue his development at one of Spain’s prominent clubs.
His arrival comes ahead of Tuesday’s UEFA Youth League fixture against Stuttgart, with the Ghanaian expected to integrate into his new environment as the Madrid-based outfit prepares for the European youth competition.
Berekum Chelsea officially confirmed the transfer, expressing their excitement over the midfielder’s move and wishing him success in his new adventure.
“We are excited to announce that our attacking midfielder, William Bediako, has signed for Atlético de Madrid. Everyone at the club wishes William Bediako all the very best,” the clfub stated.
The transfer represents another opportunity for a young Ghanaian footballer to develop in European football, with Bediako now aiming to make an impression at Atlético Madrid and progress through the club’s youth ranks.
