Gambia Armed Forces and Kintehs secure important victories

Week 17 of the GFF Women’s Second Division League began on Friday with four matches played in different venues. The Gambia Armed Forces and Kintehs secured important victories to close the gap on leaders Future Bi, who were held by Jeshwang United. Darboes defeated Mansa Wally to move further away from the relegation zone.

Isatou Sanyang’s well-executed free kick and Abisseh Jarju’s precise penalty were the key moments in the Khaki Girls’ 2-0 win over Jung Mama at the Live Your Dreams Academy Field in Basori.

Kintehs emerged victorious against a tough Sallahs’ side at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, winning 2-1 with two goals from Jainaba Jallow, while Abie Manneh scored the consolation for Sallahs.

In another match, Jainaba Trawally led Darboes to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Mansa Wally at the Bakau Mini Stadium. Meanwhile, Future Bi were held to a goalless draw by Jeshwang United at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Future Bi’s lead has now been reduced to just one point, with Kintehs and the Gambia Armed Forces tied on 35 points, while Darboes climbed to seventh place with 19 points. Matches will continue on Saturday with Prisons hosting Rakie in Brusubi while Lower Niumi and City Girls will square off at Soma on Sunday.
