Zamalek, USM Alger Set for Explosive CAF Confederation Cup Final Showdown in Cairo

Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek SC and Algerian giants USM Alger will battle for continental glory on Saturday night when they clash in the second leg of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2025/26 final at the iconic Cairo International Stadium.

The highly anticipated encounter is scheduled to kick off at 21h00 local time (18h00 GMT), with both clubs chasing history, prestige and a record-breaking financial reward.

USM Alger head into the decisive fixture with a slim 1-0 advantage after edging the first leg in Algiers last weekend.

The Algerian side secured the crucial win through Ahmed Khaldi, who calmly converted a dramatic stoppage-time penalty to give his team the upper hand ahead of the return leg.

That narrow margin has set the stage for a tense and fiercely contested final in Cairo, where Zamalek will rely on home support as they attempt to overturn the deficit and claim a third CAF Confederation Cup title following their previous triumphs in 2019 and 2024.

The White Knights are expected to attack from the opening whistle as they seek another memorable continental comeback in front of their passionate supporters.

For USM Alger, the mission is clear — defend their advantage and capture a second Confederation Cup crown after their historic success in 2023.

The Algerians will draw confidence from their disciplined display in the first leg and their encouraging recent record against Egyptian opposition in African competitions.

Beyond the prestige of continental supremacy, the stakes are even higher this year with the winner set to pocket a record prize money of 4 million US dollars — the largest financial reward ever offered in the history of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

African football fans are now eagerly awaiting what promises to be a thrilling finale between two of the continent’s traditional heavyweights.

The match will be officiated by Gabonese referee Pierre Atcho.
