Zambia coach summons 35 for U-17 FIFA final round clash

Zambia Under-17 Women National Coach Carol Kanyemba has named a 35-member provisional squad for the final round FIFA Women World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia.

Kanyemba has handed a debut call-up to England based Asher Mwamba who is on the books of Brighton& Hove Albion with the core of the squad from the earlier rounds retained.

Zambia will host Ethiopia on 4 July in Ndola at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium before heading to Addis Ababa for the return leg a week later. Winner over two legs will secure a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup which will be hosted by Morocco.

The team will set up camp in Ndola on Tuesday until the Ethiopia clash as FAZ seeks to give the squad maximum preparatory time.

The tenth edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will take place in Morocco from 17 October to 7 November 2026, with 24 sides set to battle it out to be crowned as global champions. Zambia has qualified for the last two editions in 2024 (Dominican Republic) and 2025 (Morocco) and will be aiming for a third successive ticket.
