Accra Hearts of Oak made a statement on the opening day of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, thrashing Berekum Chelsea 4-0 on Sunday afternoon to move straight to the top of the table.
Veteran forward John Antwi was at the heart of the Phobiansβ dominant display, opening the scoring in the fifth minute before striking again in the 37th minute to give Hearts a commanding 2-0 lead at halftime.
Berekum Chelsea struggled to find a way back into the contest after the break, as Hearts maintained control and continued to threaten going forward.
Substitute Mamadou Kourouma put the result beyond doubt in the 88th minute when he added a third, before Ali Mohammed completed the emphatic victory by converting a stoppage-time penalty.
The 4-0 triumph gives Hearts of Oak the perfect start to their league campaign and puts the Phobians at the summit of the Ghana Premier League table after the opening round of fixtures.
