Sunday Megwo Joins Etoile du Sahel from Abia Warriors

Nigerian striker Sunday Megwo has completed a move to Tunisia after joining Tunisian Professionelle Ligue 1 side Etoile du Sahel on a two-year contract from Nigeria Premier Football League club, Abia Warriors.

The transfer represents a major step in the career of the Nigerian forward, who will now have the opportunity to showcase his ability in North African football and compete in one of the continent’s recognised domestic leagues.

Megwo had earlier signed a three-year contract with Abia Warriors, meaning the Umuahia-based club held his registration rights at the time of the transfer.

The move to Etoile du Sahel is therefore expected to earn Abia Warriors a transfer fee, subject to the terms agreed between the two clubs.

The striker’s departure will be a significant development for Abia Warriors, who could benefit financially from the deal while also seeing one of their players secure a move to a major club outside Nigeria.

For Megwo, the switch to Etoile du Sahel offers a fresh challenge and an opportunity to establish himself in the Tunisian top flight.

The move could also provide a platform for him to attract wider attention across African football if he delivers consistent performances.

Etoile du Sahel, one of Tunisia’s prominent football clubs, will be hoping Megwo adds greater firepower to their attacking options as they pursue their objectives in the new campaign.

The two-year agreement gives the Nigerian striker time to settle into his new environment and prove his worth, while Abia Warriors will be expected to reinvest any proceeds from the transfer as they continue their own preparations and campaign in the Nigerian top flight.

Megwo’s move further highlights the growing demand for Nigerian players across African leagues, with the striker now set to begin a new chapter in his professional career in Tunisia.
