Europa League Mourinho Eyes Winning Europa Conference League With Roma

When his Roma team faces Feyenoord in the inaugural Europa Conference League final on Wednesday, Jose Mourinho will look to extend his flawless record in European championships.

All four of his finals have been won by the Portuguese, two with Porto and one each with Inter Milan and Manchester United.

He will be the first manager in European final history to coach four teams.

If I win I will become the first one to win all European trophies, but that’s only if I win,” said Mourinho.

He helped Porto win the Uefa Cup in 2003 and the Champions League the following season.

In 2010, he won Europe’s premier club competition with Inter Milan, and in 2017, he led Manchester United to the Europa League, formerly the Uefa Cup, title.

When Mourinho first took charge of Chelsea in 2004, he was branded “a special one,” a moniker he now appears to want to put behind him.

The ‘Special One’ story is an old story,” added Mourinho.

It was when I was at the beginning [of my career].

“When you have more maturity and stability, you think more about the people and less about yourself.

“When you arrive at a final after a season of work, the work is done.

“It’s the team’s moment, not the moment of an individual.

“I don’t believe in magical potions, I don’t believe in magical spells.

“There’s nothing special to be done, just us to be us as a team.

” Knowing the qualities we have, knowing the limitations we have.

“For me, no matter how the final ends, this is a positive season for us.”

Since winning the Uefa Cup in 2002, Feyenoord has yet to reach a European final.

With ten goals, Arne Slot’s squad finished third in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Tammy Abraham, on the other hand, has nine goals in his first season with Roma after signing from Chelsea.

In all competitions, the England striker has 27 goals, including two on the final day of the Serie A season against Torino to secure sixth place and Europa League participation.

Abraham also scored the only goal in Roma’s semi-final victory over Leicester in the second leg.

Roma haven’t won a trophy since winning the Italian Cup in 2008, and they haven’t won a European trophy since 1961, when they won the Fairs Cup, which was the precursor of the Uefa Cup/Europa League.

For me it’s not a little cup,” said Abraham in response to suggestions that the Conference League pales in comparison to Europe’s two established tournaments.

I believe every final is a final, no matter what competition it is.

“You get to the final, you want to win the final.

“It’s a trophy and these are the moments you look back on in your career, saying you want to win trophies.”
