Premier League Arteta Confirms Jesus, Odegaard Availability Against Brentford

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta announced that midfielder Martin Odegaard and forward Gabriel Jesus are healthy enough to play Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday after their return from the international break.

Both Jesus and Odegaard had been sidelined by injury for Arsenal in their past two league games; however, Jesus returned from a hamstring injury to play in Brazil’s 1-0 loss to Argentina this week.

We have another training session today but he’s been progressing well.

Hopefully (Odegaard) will be available,” Arteta told reporters ahead of Saturday’s game at the Community Stadium.

“(Jesus) is available. He played 97 minutes in a really competitive match. We have another session. They had a really long flight and I have to see the condition of every single player to make the final call on the line up.”

Ben White, the defender, might not be ready when Arteta said he would make a last-minute decision.

Third-place Arsenal could take back the top spot in the Premier League rankings if they defeat Brentford and the top two teams in the league draw when they face Manchester City and Liverpool on Saturday.

We watch the (City v Liverpool) game for sure as we are interested in the league and we are always on top of things,” Arteta said.

“Brentford are a really tough opponent and it is a difficult place to go.

You look at all the clubs who go there and they make it extremely difficult.

They are really effective and well coached. It will be a tough match.”

Aaron Ramsdale, the custodian on loan from Brentford, will start the match on Saturday, according to Arteta, who also revealed that David Raya is not allowed to play against his own club.

Since joining Arsenal in 2021, Ramsdale has been the team’s first choice in goal. He participated in all 38 Premier League games the previous season, but in the team’s last eight league games, Raya has started in Ramsdale’s place on the bench.
