LA 2028 Olympic Qualifier: Ghana Black Queens Beat Mauritius 3-0

Ghana’s Black Queens secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Mauritius in the first leg of their 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games qualifier on Thursday, putting themselves in a strong position ahead of the return fixture in Ghana.

The Black Queens started brightly and pushed forward in search of an early breakthrough. Their pressure paid off in the 16th minute when Abigail Kim opened the scoring to give Ghana a 1-0 lead.

Ghana continued to control proceedings, with Stella Nyamekye coming close from a free kick in the 22nd minute, although her effort went off target.

The visitors doubled their advantage just two minutes later. Alice Kusi found the back of the net in the 24th minute to put Ghana 2-0 up.

Mauritius struggled to contain Ghana’s attacking pressure as the Queens continued to threaten. Their dominance was rewarded again in first-half stoppage time when Benedicte Simon unleashed a long-range effort to make it 3-0 in the 45+3rd minute.

Ghana went into the break with a comfortable three-goal advantage.

The Black Queens continued to search for further goals after the restart, while Mauritius looked to limit the damage.

In the 78th minute, Jennifer Cudjoe came close to adding a fourth when her free kick rattled the crossbar.

Despite further efforts from both sides, Ghana held on to secure a 3-0 away victory.

The result gives the Black Queens a significant advantage heading into the second leg on home soil, where they will look to complete the job and advance in the Olympic qualifying campaign.
