Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team, the Falconets, have booked their place at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after edging past Malawi on aggregate, despite suffering a 2–1 defeat in the second leg.
Holding a narrow advantage from the first encounter, the Falconets were pushed to the limit by a determined Malawi women’s national under-20 football team side. Malawi’s victory on the day, however, proved insufficient to overturn the deficit, as Nigeria progressed with a 3–2 aggregate scoreline.
The qualification marks another milestone for the Nigeria women’s national under-20 football team, who once again demonstrated resilience and composure under pressure across both legs of the tie. Their ability to manage the aggregate advantage proved decisive in a tightly contested matchup.
