The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has directed all participating clubs to clear every outstanding salary and financial obligation owed to players and coaches before July 31, 2026, as preparations continue for the 2026/27 season.
The league warned that clubs must also comply fully with all decisions issued by the Players Status and Arbitration Committee (PSAC), the body responsible for resolving contractual and employment disputes involving players, coaches and clubs.
According to the NPFL, any club that fails to settle its outstanding debts or ignores PSAC rulings by the deadline will be hit with an automatic transfer ban ahead of the new campaign.
The decision is aimed at strengthening professionalism within the league, protecting the welfare of players and coaches, and ensuring that clubs meet their contractual responsibilities.
The transfer restriction means defaulting clubs will be unable to register new players until they have fulfilled all outstanding financial obligations and complied with the arbitration committee’s decisions.
The latest directive reinforces the NPFL’s commitment to enforcing financial discipline and promoting accountability among clubs as the league prepares for another competitive season.
With the July 31 deadline approaching, affected clubs are expected to take urgent steps to resolve outstanding salary issues and comply with PSAC rulings to avoid sanctions that could weaken their squads before the start of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
