The Moroccan national team has confirmed a three-game friendly schedule as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Atlas Lions will aim to build on their historic run at the last edition of the tournament.
According to the Moroccan Football Federation, the North Africans will begin their pre-World Cup programme with a closed-door encounter against Burundi on May 26 at the national team’s training facility in Sale.
The team, coached by Mohamed Ouahbi, will continue preparations with another friendly against Madagascar on June 2 in Rabat.
The fixture is expected to serve as Morocco’s official farewell match before the squad departs for the World Cup.
Morocco will round off their warm-up games with a high-profile clash against Norway on June 7 in New York City, offering the team an opportunity to test themselves against European opposition shortly before the tournament begins.
The Atlas Lions are expected to open their training camp on May 22, while the final squad list for the Mundial is likely to be announced a week later.
Morocco already played two international friendlies in March against Ecuador and Paraguay as part of their early preparations for the global competition.
The North Africans head into the tournament carrying high expectations after their remarkable performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where they became the first African nation to reach the semi-finals of the competition.
