WAFCON 2026: Boaduwaa’s Early Strike Gives Dominant Black Queens First-Half Advantage Over Cape Verde

Ghana’s Black Queens took a deserved 1-0 lead into the first half after an impressive opening 45 minutes against Cape Verde, with forward Doris Boaduwaa finding the breakthrough as early as the seventh minute.

Boaduwaa showcased composure and brilliance to lift the ball delicately over the advancing Cape Verde goalkeeper after being played through, giving Ghana the perfect start and rewarding their early attacking intent.

The Black Queens have controlled possession for much of the first half, dictating the tempo and pinning Cape Verde deep inside their own half. Ghana’s relentless pressing and quick passing have kept the visitors under sustained pressure, with the Queens creating several promising attacking situations while limiting Cape Verde’s opportunities to venture forward.

With Boaduwaa’s clinical finish separating the two sides at the interval, Ghana will be looking to maintain their dominance and add to their advantage in the second half.
