Tanzania Nabi leaves treble winners Yanga SC amid Kaizer Chiefs link

Young Africans (Yanga SC) are in the market for a new coach after Nasreddine Nabi left the Tanzanian Premier League champions at the expiry of his contract.

The Tunisian tactician quit the Jangwani Street-based giants amid reports linking him with South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs. A statement from Yanga confirmed despite the club’s efforts to persuade him to extend his stay, Nabi requested to leave.

“Young Africans management would like to inform you the club has parted ways with coach Nabi on a mutual agreement after he refused to extend his contract,” read part of the statement, adding: “Nabi’s contract with Yanga was coming to an end at the end of this season.

“After the expiry of the contract, Yanga officials met with Nabi for talks to renew the same but he requested to leave for a new challenge. Yanga would like to thank Nabi’s contribution during his spell at our club and would like to wish him all the best in his journey.”

While in Tanzania, Nabi guided Yanga to lift two Premier League titles, two Azam Sports Federation Cups (ASFC), and two Community Shields. He also guided Yanga to the final of the Caf Confederation Cup for the first time ever where they lost to Algeria’s USM Alger.
