Uganda BUL FC strengthen squad with signing of Mutakubwa

Ugandan Premier League (UPL) outfit BUL FC have confirmed the acquisition of Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa ahead of the new campaign.

“BUL FC is proud to announce the signing of Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa from Gaddafi FC,” read part of a statement on the club’s official website, adding: The 29-year-old goalkeeper, who lifted the Cecafa Kagame Cup with Express FC in 2021, has signed a two-year contract with the club.”

The statement added: “For his eye-catching performances at the local scene, Mutakubwa was summoned for the Uganda Cranes duty at the Africa Nations Championship (Chan) early this year in Algeria. He has previously played for Busoga United (Kirinya Jinja SS), Kyetume, Tooro United, and Express in the Uganda Premier League.

“Welcome to the Eastern Giants Mutakubwa.”

He becomes the club’s second signing after striker Gerald Ogweti, who joined from Big League side Lugazi FC. Recently, BUL released Richard Wandyaka, Ivan Wani, and goalkeeper Emmanuel Kalyowa while Hillary Onek extended his stay with a contract renewal.
