After losing to Swedish champions Hacken 5-3 on the road in their Europa League qualifying match, the Scottish Premiership team was relegated to the Europa Conference League.
Zrinjski, Villa’s opponents in Group E, are the first Bosnia and Herzegovina team to advance past the group stages in a UEFA club competition.
The 32 clubs that participated in the draw were made up of the 10 losers from the Europa League play-off round and the 22 winners from the ECL play-off round.
In four pots of eight teams each, the clubs were seeded based on UEFA’s club coefficient rankings. Aberdeen was in pot 4, whereas Villa was in pot 2.
