Tanzania Simba SC on the verge of unveiling new head coach for new season

Tanzania Premier League outfit Simba SC are on the verge of finalizing the appointment of a new head coach, a significant move anticipated before the team embarks on their pre-season tour in Egypt.

Ahmed Ally, the club’s information and communication manager, confirmed that the leadership is in the final stages of completing this critical process. The search for a new coach follows a tumultuous season for Simba, marked by instability and a series of disappointing results.

Last season, the club finished third in the Premier League, fell to Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals, and suffered an early exit in the Federation Cup at the hands of Mashujaa FC.

The team’s struggles were exacerbated by the departure of head coach Abdelahak Benchika due to family reasons, which led to acting head coach Juma Mgunda stepping in to guide the team through the remainder of the season.

Ally emphasized the importance of the upcoming appointment, stating: “The position of the head coach will be finalized soon, and we will announce him. We will also be advertising all positions within the technical bench area, not just the head coach.”

He addressed the concerns surrounding the current coaching staff, specifically Mgunda and his assistant Selemani Matola, saying: “I know there have been many questions about Juma Mgunda and Selemani Matola. As of now, they remain our coaches until further announcements are made.

“Mgunda has proven to be a top-class coach, and many are eager to see him officially assigned to the team. We will provide clarity on Mgunda and all other coaching matters in a few days.”
