Transfers DONE DEAL: Simba SC confirm exit of defender Henock Inonga to FAR Rabat

Tanzania giants Simba SC has ended rumors concerning the future of their Congolese international defender Henock Inonga after announcing the departure of the defender who joins Morocco’s Premier League side AS FAR Rabat.

The Congolese international who joined Simba in 2021 from the Democratic Republic of Congo football side, DC Motema Pembe part ways with the Msimbazi Street-based despite his contract being set to expire next year (2025).

In a statement released by Simba, it was disclosed that the decision to allow Inonga to leave the club was made considering the player’s interests.

During his three-season tenure at Simba, Inonga was a pivotal figure, consistently featuring in the starting lineup under various coaches. In 2022, Inonga was named the best defender in the Tanzanian Premier League, a testament to his outstanding performance that season.

“The management appreciates Inonga for his service during his entire time with us, and we wish him all the best in his new chapter outside Simba,” the statement read.

His departure is part of the club’s ongoing improvements ahead of the new league season plus the continental assignment where Simba will be one of the two clubs to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Confirming his departure through his social media platform, Inonga bid farewell to Simba supporters, expressing gratitude and stating that they will always remain in his heart.

On his part, Simba’s Communication Officer, Ahmed Ally confirmed the departure of the defender, saying that it is true they sold him to the Moroccan side and the club has earned a lot from that trade.

“I cannot mention how much we have earned but it is true we sold Inonga and Simba has gained a lot from this deal as we have managed to get enough cut from this deal,” said Ahmed.

Inonga joins the ranks of John Bocco, Shaaban Chilunda, Kennedy Juma, Saido Ntibazonkiza, and Luis Miquissone, who have been released by the club.
