AFCON U17 AFCON U17: Favour Goal Save Eaglets The Day Against Zambia

Nigeria Golden Eaglets kicked off their TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations AFCON U17 with a 1-0 win over Zambia in Group B.

The Golden Eaglets who headed into the tournament as favourite lived up to expectation as Daniel Favour scored in 77th minute.

Nigeria settled into the game quickly and had scored in the early minute but the goal was ruled for offside.

The Golden Eaglets kept on piling pressure on the Young Chipolopolo and in the 41 minutes, Precious Williams missed a goal scoring opportunity as the First ended goalless.

Nigeria continued to pile up pressure against the Zambia but could not get the breakthrough.

Favour came through for the Eaglets as he pounced on a loose ball in the area to send the ball inside the net.

It could have been 2-0 but substitute, Light Eke failed to score from the spot after Nigeria was awarded a penalty.

Golden Eaglets defender Yahaya Lawali was voted as the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.

The Golden Eaglets next game will be against Morocco on Wednesday.
