An own goal by Mothobi Mvala in the 83rd minute while attempting to block a free kick would be crucial for the Moroccan visitors.

The game picked up steam in the second half after a scoreless first half in which Sundowns applied pressure in an effort to score quickly to ease their anxieties.

Themba Zwane, the captain, broke the tie four minutes after the game resumed when he pounced on a defensive mistake to score.

However, the Moroccans put up a fight, and they tied the score in the 72nd minute when Ayoub El Amloud scored after Yahya Jebrane had passed the ball.

Sundowns pushed hard for the second goal knowing that their prospects would be low with a scoring draw.

Their star striker Peter Shalulile gave them a 2-1 lead after just seven minutes, earning them a prize.

However, Wydad’s happiness was fleeting, and soon they were back on speaking terms.

Sundowns put pressure on the Moroccans to score in the waning seconds of the game, but their hopes were shattered as they made every effort to defend.
