CAF Champions League USM Alger versus Yanga SC game not done yet – Benchikha

USM Alger coach Abdelhak Benchikha has refused to back his team to wrap up the job by beating Young Africans (Yanga SC) in the return leg of the Caf Confederation Cup final on Saturday.

The Algerian outfit will go into the fixture at Stade du 5 Juillet carrying a 2-1 advantage secured from the first leg at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium last Sunday.

However, Benchikha insists the game is still not done yet as Yanga will play against his side with nothing to lose.

“Nothing is done yet. The game remains 50-50. I have experience with these kinds of matches as a coach,” Benchikha said as quoted by Daily News.

“Yanga will come to Algeria with nothing to lose, and we must remain focused. Yes, we have a small step from the first leg, but I know how things can change, and we should not lose focus. We will keep working.”

On winning the first leg, Benchikha said: “I am happy with this positive result. We played a very heroic match, and we implemented our strategy well. It was tough playing under the rainy conditions, but our players showed a superb game, and possibly we should have scored more.”

He added: “We had an outstanding balance in defending and attacking, and our tactical approach was perfect. We did not leave spaces for Yanga to exploit because they have dangerous players who can punish you.”

Meanwhile, Yanga coach Nasreddine Nabi is confident they can overturn the first-leg defeat in Algiers.
