UEFA Champions League De Bruyne : Why I decided to come off against Inter in UCL final

De Bruyne vs Inter Milan

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has revealed the reason why he was subbed off against Inter Milan in UEFA Champions league final on Saturday night.

The 30-year old went through the same situation like 2021 when he was brought off against Chelsea.

After a hard duel with Antonino Rüdiger, the Belgian star was compelled to let his place for a teammate with a bloody head.

The same situation occured this year when he asked for susbtitution in the 36th minute.

Guardiola granted him what he wanted and replaced him by Phil Foden.

Fortunately, Manchester City won the trophy and De Bruyne is happy even though he still feels discomfort in his harmstring.

“I’ve been struggling for two months but it was all small ruptures. Today [Saturday] the hamstring just snapped. I give everything and people in the club know that. I feel proud… It’s a shame it went the way it did but we won the Champions league so nothing bad’, he told the Telegraph.

“People can say so much about you but if you’re satisfied with yourself and do what you need to go and give your all you can be proud no matter what… but, obviously, you want to win.

“I’ve basically been fighting all my career to win this Champions league medal. But I still don’t think it defines my career. I think it helps but I don’t judge myself or my career solely on this. I know who I am as a player and person and I’m happy, proud and satisfied…”
