FIFA World Cup FIFA Women’s World Cup: Australia Set To Break France Crowd Record

In a boost for the global showpiece’s organizers, co-hosts of the Women’s World Cup Australia are scheduled to play their exhibition match against France in front of a record crowd in Melbourne next month.

For the Bastille Day match at Docklands Stadium on July 14, governing body Football Australia reported on Thursday that over 40,000 tickets have already been purchased.

The host nation faced off against the world champion United States in November 2021 at Sydney’s Olympic Stadium, and 36,109 spectators watched the game.

The World Cup taking place in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20 has already sold more than one million tickets, making history’s most popular stand-alone women’s athletic event.

Due to heavy demand for tickets, Australia’s opening match against Ireland was moved to the Olympic Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 69 000.

The 40 500-seat Eden Park in Auckland is predicted to be sold out for New Zealand’s opening match against Norway.
