AFCON U23 TOURNAMENT Afcon U23: Egypt will be formidable challenge for Mali – Diallo

Mali coach Badara Alou Diallo has explained what his side needs to do to beat Egypt when the two sides clash in the Caf U23 Africa Cup of Nations fixture on Wednesday night.

After winning their Group B opener 3-1 against 10-man Congo, Mali are currently leading the group ahead of the defending champions, who secured a 0-0 draw against Niger in their opener.

With Mali standing the best opportunity to secure a place in the semi-finals of the tournament in Morocco with a victory, coach Diallo has stressed his charges cannot rest on their laurels after their first-match victory, but instead must redouble their efforts against Egypt.

Mali defender Ibrahima Cisse, who features for FC Schalke 04 in Germany, acknowledged the formidable nature of the Egyptian team, emphasising their high technical proficiency.

“As a team, we are resolute and approach every match in this tournament with unwavering determination. Our goal is to lift the Cup and secure qualification for the Olympics,” added Cisse.
