Andre Onana De Gea

A Manchester United legend has tipped Andre Onana to replace departing goalkeeper David De Gea at the club this summer.

The Spanish shot-stopper was due to extend his contract with the Red Devils last month.

However, he was informed later that the club has decided not to continue with him as head coach Erik ten Hag is not happy with his performances.

So far, Andre Onana has been announced a his possible replacement at Old Trafford.

And the club’s legend Rio Ferdinand is backing the Cameroonian shot-stopper to complete the move.

“The manager wants a new goalkeeper. If the club, which it looks like, has said, “David you are done” that is fair enough. I don’t care about that, that is fine, he will have to go and find a new club”, Ferdinand said in VIBE With FIVE Podcast.

“Bigger and better players, back in the day, have been told to leave Man United, it is fine. I think David will be okay. But there is a way in which you do it.

“Now, if we move onto who is going to replace him: Onana 100 per cent. I went to watch him live in the Champions League semi-final, the confidence this boy has got!

“He is almost like another player. He comes out, plays on the edge of his box, and he wants to be involved in the build-up, he is a proper footballer. And he is a great shot-stopper, he made a couple of great saves in the final.”
