Kenyan Premier League Omwando: I have never tendered my resignation as Shabana secretary

Peter Omwando has come out to deny reports he had resigned as secretary general of promoted FKF Premier League side Shabana FC.

During a recent interview with a local Radio Station, Shabana chairman Jared Nivaton said Omwando had since been replaced as the club’s secretary having tendered his resignation to the club’s board members and was not part of the signatories to the club’s account.

However, in a signed statement, Omwando has dismissed the claims stating he has never tendered his resignation as the official of the club and further insisted he was still secretary of the Kisii-based Glamour Boys.

“My attention has been drawn to some media houses to the effect that I have resigned from the club,” said Omwando, adding: “I put it on record that I am the bonafide secretary of Shabana since I was first elected on June 29, 2005, and re-elected again on August 18, 2021, with the following officials; Jared Nivaton (Chairman), Omwando (Secretary), Sam Nyamweya (Patron).

He continued: “I am still the registered secretary with the Registrar of Sports who is the custodian of all the Sports Associations. I am also a signatory of our Bank Account Paybill No. 981730/ A/C 01134129852400 at the Co-operative Bank CBD branch together with Jared Ombongo and Stephen Kiama.

“If there is any other account opened elsewhere without our authority is a fraud as it has not been sanctioned by the bonafide officials and Registrar of Sports. As far as I am concerned, our Patron can only be elected /appointed during an Annual General Meeting and not otherwise.”

Tore Bobe earned promotion to the top-flight after 17 years in the cold following their success in lifting the National Super League (NSL) title on the final day of the season.
