Kenya Tusker new signings will wrestle FKF title from Gor Mahia – Matano

Tusker coach Robert Matano has exuded confidence the new signings will add depth and quality that was missing in their squad last season and help them claim the FKF Premier League title from Gor Mahia in the new campaign.

The Brewers beefed up their squad with the arrival of five new faces – Joseph Mwangi from Nzoia Sugar, James Kibande from Kenya Police, Fabian Adikiny from Murang’a Seal FC, Ugandan John Byamukama from Gaddafi FC, while goalkeeper Edwin Simiyu was promoted from the Youth Team.

The move to reinforce the squad came after Tusker had released seven players led by veteran midfielder Humphrey Mieno, who left at the expiry of his contract, striker David Majak, midfielder Shami Mwinyi, goalkeeper Michael Wanjala, Jackson Macharia, Kevin Monyi, and Tanzanian defender Kalos Kirenge.

“I am delighted by the new signings that we have included in the team, I am certain they are the right profile of players we need to take the club’s performance a level higher and hopefully, they can help us win trophies next season,” said Matano.

“Our next step is now to integrate them into the team, ensuring they understand our playing philosophy and what we are trying to achieve, and I am certain they can move us forward. We want to get our league title back and I am anticipating a great season for us.”

Meanwhile, defender Charles Momanyi and Ugandan forward Deogratious Ojok have both extended their contracts and will stay at Ruaraka for one more year. In the same breath, Momanyi was named the new club captain and will be assisted by Brian Bwire and Michael Kibwage.

The Brewers will kick off the new season against Mombasa-based Bandari FC on August 26.
